23 DobaCaracol: Live at The Prince Bandroom - Melbourne 2005
The Puzzled Look team had the chance to interview and record DobaCaracol's fantastic concert at The Prince Bandroom in Saint Kilda in 2005.

DobaCaracol are one of the most exciting and eclectic acts on the World Music scene, blending Afro-Beat, Reggae with French lyrics, wicked rhythms and old folk songs from various countries.

The band's name comes from the nicknames of the two lead singers Doriane Fabreg (Doba) and Carole Facal (Caracol or snail).

"Doriane is very outgoing and very social and loves a party. I'm a bit more solitary and tend to spend my time writing more lyrics. We really compliment each other in the way we play and the way we are. The tones of our voices are also very complimentary. In the band my role is to write a lot of songs and Doriane gives a feel to a lot of the songs.

The songs have a strong percussion base, enhanced with judicious use of guitar, bass and keyboard instruments. The vocals are unique and create the final signature. And though only a few lyrics are in English, Facal says "it is the rhythms which capture people's hearts and attention.
